About Reetha Powder

Reetha, also called soapnut or soapberry, has been used in Indian homes for generations as a natural cleanser. In Ayurvedic hair care, it is traditionally paired with Shikakai and Amla for herbal hair washes. When mixed with warm water, it makes a soft, natural foam.

Traditional Uses

  • Traditionally used as a natural hair and scalp cleanser
  • Many people use it as a herbal shampoo alternative
  • Traditionally combined with Shikakai and Amla in herbal hair wash blends
  • May leave hair feeling clean and fresh
  • A simple, chemical-free addition to your hair care routine

How to Use

  1. Take 2 tablespoons of powder in a bowl (adjust for your hair length).
  2. Add warm water and whisk or mix well until it turns into a smooth, lightly foamy liquid.
  3. Wet your hair. Apply the mixture to your scalp and hair and massage gently for a few minutes.
  4. Rinse very well with water. Keep your eyes closed while rinsing.
  5. Use once or twice a week, or as suits you.

Tip: For a fuller herbal wash, mix 2 tablespoons of Reetha with 1 tablespoon each of Shikakai and Amla powder.
